A TRAVERTINE FIREPLACE
In Alexandra Guerain’s living room, the fireplace was already there. Imposing and conceived as a centerpiece of the space, it just needed to be dressed to truly become the heart of the room.
The choice fell on our brand-new flexible travertine sheet.
The result is striking: a fireplace that seems to have been carved directly from a block of travertine, when in reality it is covered with a thin sheet of natural stone only 4 mm thick.
TRAVERTINE, REIMAGINED
During construction, Alexandra envisioned her house around raw, contemporary materials, notably concrete, glass, and stainless steel.
Already won over by StoneLeaf for her kitchen, where our Ankara stone sheets now cover the central island and the backsplash, she chose to continue this approach with travertine for her living room.
The material adds a new dimension to the fireplace while integrating naturally into the existing aesthetic.
A warm, textured, and authentic stone that dialogues with the rawer lines of the interior.
A FIREPLACE DRESSED IN LARGE FORMAT
For this project, our large-format 2400 × 1200 mm travertine sheets allowed us to cover this imposing 7-meter-high fireplace with very few joints.
Its thinness and lightness also allow for a much simpler installation than with traditional travertine. The sheet is glued directly onto the existing support, without needing to dismantle the entire structure.
A solution that allows you to completely transform a room while preserving what is already there.
THE RESULT? A STONE THAT SEEMS TO HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THERE
This is the true strength of this project: the travertine does not simply cover the fireplace. It seems to be part of it.
Its natural shades, texture, and the continuity of the material give the impression that the whole thing was designed directly in stone.
A spectacular achievement that once again demonstrates the full potential of StoneLeaf flexible travertine.
